OUR PAST WORKING PRESA CANARIO LITTER

Please note that the following information is only meant as reference material, being that Mole was not preganant on her second breeding.  We would like to thank everyone for your support and inquiries, with a special thanks to Oakleaf Working Presas and GreJon Kennel for all your help.

The Breeding of Two Working Presa Canarios

Under the auspices of Cathy from Oakleaf Working Presa Canarios, and Johnny from GreJon Kennel, we are proud to announce our first performance and working Presa Canario breeding.  A pairing of this type and magnitude is truly rare, as both Mole and Akula are not only accomplished on the trial and training field, but they both have titled and accomplished relatives in their respective lineage as well.

Although our reason and guidelines for breeding Mole are based on IAPC principles, which were designed to uphold the presa canario as the ideal family guardian, at Citadel Performance Presa Canario we wanted to up the ante.  This is why we tested Mole, in various training methods (PSA, Mondioring, French Ring, and some Schutzhund type of work) and trialed her in PSA trials where she obtained a PSA PDC and PSA TC. This provided us a noteworthy evaluation as to what Mole was capable of on the field, and while she excelled on the protection field, she has always proven herself to be a stable and loyal family protector. Mole has a great "on" and "off" switch that is the ideal for IAPC bred presas and having this ability to immediately cool off after a threat requires great nerves, a balance of drives, and confident temperament.  Mole outs/releases her grip on a bad guy (decoy) upon hearing her command, and immediately afterwards is able to be petted by children or any friendly strangers.

Thanks to GreJon kennels, we were able to find Mole a most worthy match and we feel that we are breeding two great dogs.  Akula is the sire to this litter and we mirror GreJon Kennel's philosophy on working presas.  Akula was the first Presa to obtain his UKC/SDA title, already has a Sch BH, and will look to obtain his Sch I sometime in the near future.  Akula is a most impressive worker on the field and most importantly he has the ideal temperament and the "on" and "off" switch as well.  He also is a proven producer, as this will be his second litter, and his first litter looks to be a great one from all accounts and first hand knowledge.

Realizing that one wants the total package in a dog, like our selves, both Citadel Performance Presas and GreJon Kennel have health tested their dogs.

Mole:  OFA Good Hips, OFA Normal Elbows

Akula: OFA Good Hips, OFA Normal Elbows

We expect potential owners to provide an ideal environment for their presa puppy, which means that they should raise and keep them in a manner which will maximize their abilities.   We realize that not everyone can or will be able to train or trial with their presa, however, mental and physical stimulation is a must as well as obedience.  Stronger consideration will be given to working homes, which is to say that they will train and/or trial their presa in a protection sport.  With Mole and Akula's strong working heritage, we are confident that they will produce offspring that will excel in various working events, but not limited to, Schutzhund, PSA, French Ring, Mondioring, UKC/SDA, weight-pulling, and IronDog events.

It is important to note that although both the parents are fully trained and accomplished protection dogs, they are first and foremost, family members and companions.  This is to say that they live with their families inside the house and interact with children on a daily basis, are great with friendly strangers, and very well behaved Presas in general.  This is what a true personal protection dog is all about; for what good is a family guardian if the said dog has to be crated all the time or can't interact with friendly strangers because of aggression issues?

The entire litter will be exposed to various types of stimuli including, but not limited to, loud noises, various environmental items, various surfaces, children, strange noises, socialization, etc.  In addition, they will be fed raw (raw meat and veggies) starting with their first whole meal.  This will ensure that they get off to a great start from the time they are born to early puppyhood.  Puppies expected in late January.

We want to give our thanks to Oakleaf Ranch Working Presas, Red Star Kennel, and GreJon Kennel for all your help and support.  Thanks to all the trainers and decoys that Mole has worked with in the past as well.  Without you this wouldn't be possible.
